The Better Earthing Fabric Grounding Mat is made in Australia and sewn from two layers of tough fabric with natural antibacterial mineral fibre inside that actively kills bacteria and odours. It comes with a 5-year warranty on its effective earthing life.

Works through clothing.

The size is a generous 47 x 60 cm. This size is ample for an office chair or sofa seat. It can be placed on your desk in front of a keyboard to rest your forearms on, used as a floor mat to rest your feet on, or as a mini earthing sleep pad overnight.

How does it work?

You can think of the Earth like a giant battery that helps support all life.

Fabric Feel & Appearance

This fabric comprises 40% stainless steel fibre by weight, and stainless steel fibre is around 5 times the weight of similar-sized cotton or Tencel fibres. This ensures that fabric does NOT feel hard or metallic.

It feels soft like linen, breathes well, is strong yet supple, and will earth effectively for many years while sleeping directly on your favourite cotton or natural fibre sheets. It is also machine washable.
Won't break down with skin oils or skin cream

Unlike silver or carbon-based earthing sheets or earthing sleep mats, you don’t need to be concerned about damage from various ingredients in body creams, lotions, essential oils, magnesium oils, sulphur in heavy sweat, body and hair oil.
You don't need direct skin contact

Better Earthing Sleep Systems are the world’s first earthing sheet that is designed to work through bed clothing and the fitted sheet you directly sleep on. NO direct skin contact is needed. The tiniest amount of body moisture or humidity in your clothes and sheets, compressed by your body weight, creates conductive channels that very effectively pass earth from your highly conductive Better Earthing Sleep System.

By not sleeping directly against your earthing undersheet, the fabric is protected from normal wear & tear, which makes it last longer.

Other earthing sheets are designed for direct contact with bare skin and use silver-coated fibre in 3-8% of their earthing fabric compared to 40% solid stainless steel fibre.

Please note if you have an allergy to nickel in stainless steel or to 9 or 14-carat gold, then avoid direct skin contact. This product is designed as an underlay so no skin contact is needed.
They're not cheap. Because they are the very best.

Better Earthing fabric underlays are far superior to black carbon-coated earthing sleep mats made from Polyurethane (marketed as Leatherette), and low 3-5% silver-coated fibre cotton sheets which are often white with a grey grid pattern.

Both styles are very low-cost Chinese-made products, using low-cost materials, with short limited warranties. They back their underlays with a 3-year warranty.

Many earthing products have only a 1-year manufacturer warranty that applies only to defects. Some makers say their products should last for years or a lifetime, but they only offer a short warranty.

How do I know if my earthing product is working?

The best way to make sure your earthing universal underlay is working correctly is by using an auto range multimeter, that can be purchased in the better earthing shop.

I’ve noticed a tingling feeling while earthing. Is that normal?

Experiencing tingling and warmth is a positive sign that your circulation is improving. It’s quite common for people to feel these sensations when they begin using Better Earthing products. These signs suggest that the earthing process is effectively increasing blood flow and promoting better overall circulation.

There are two connection points on my earthing product. Do I need two leads?

No, you don’t need two leads. Better Earthing underlays are designed with two connection points for your convenience. This allows you to connect to the wall outlet easily, whether it is located on the left or right side of your bed. Having two connection points makes it simple to set up your earthing universal underlay in any room configuration.

Which type of sheet is best to use on top of the Better Earthing underlay?

For optimal grounding, we recommend using 100% cotton sheets with your Better Earthing underlay. However, other natural fabric sheets, such as Flannelette, Linen, Silk, Lyocell/Tencel, or Wool, are also excellent choices as they provide effective grounding and durability.

While bamboo lyocell blend sheets are acceptable for earthing, bamboo viscose sheets are less effective and not as strong. It’s best to avoid polyester blends and bamboo (viscose) sheets because they do not conduct earth as well. Synthetic and semi-synthetic materials do not retain moisture as efficiently as cotton.

Moisture in the fabric is crucial for creating tiny conductive channels that allow the earth’s free electrons to travel through. This moisture comes from the humidity in the air and from our bodies, which naturally emit some moisture even without sweating. Using the right type of sheet makes sure these channels remain open, maximising the benefits of your earthing underlay.

Do I need to have bare skin contact for Better Earthing products to work?

No, you don’t need to have bare skin contact for our Better Earthing universal underlay for them to work. Our earthing universal underlays are designed to work through clothing. Even the slightest body moisture or humidity in your socks, clothes, or sheets creates conductive channels that efficiently transfer the earth’s energy from your Better Earthing product to you.

Unlike most other earthing sheet underlays that require direct skin contact and use a low percentage of conductive material (3-8% silver-coated fibre), our custom-made earthing fabric contains around 40% highest quality medical-grade (316L) solid stainless steel fibre. You can see the conductive metal with a strong magnifying glass. Additionally, our Tencel fabric is certified as antibacterial and is highly hygienic.

Can I use an electric blanket with my earthing universal underlay?

Yes, you can use an electric blanket with your Better Earthing underlay. In fact, it can be beneficial, as earthing helps shield the body from AC electrical fields. Using a multimeter, you can observe an increase in body voltage when you sit on an electric blanket, but earthing effectively brings those volts down.

We recommend placing your earthing universal underlay on top of the electric blanket, with your regular cotton sheet as the top layer. The earthing strength may be slightly reduced for the first 30 minutes due to the electric blanket drying out the cotton sheets. However, once you get into bed, the slight moisture from your body will rehydrate the cotton sheets, usually within 30 minutes. This moisture creates tiny conductive channels, allowing free electrons to travel through effectively.

Will creams, lotions, oils, or heavy sweat and body oil damage your underlay?

No, as we use medical grade stainless steel fibres that are not damaged or oxidised by these. Many lotions, body oil and our sweat (which always contains sulphur) is a huge problem for earthing sheets using a low 3 to 10% silver coated fibre. Even sheets with a high % of silver can be damaged easily where the silver coating is thin and cheap and not coated with a good anti oxidising agent.

Washing detergents that contain bleach can also quickly oxidise silver and stop those sheets from earthing.

To understand how robust your earthing sheet is, always look at the warranty period and limitations, especially around conductivity and oxidisation. Black carbon coated Polyurethane products also have shorter warranties, and for good reasons.
